WebI have the 6 speed mega range freewheel on my vintage touring bike. Mine has a triple in the front 52-42-28 I think. Once you get used to the big jump I find that the 24-34 shift is fairly smooth even with my old 80s long cage derailleur, but you kind of have to expect it.
